Maker's Mark Bourbon is a Kentucky bourbon whiskey produced in Loretto, Kentucky, United States, with an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 45%. Created by Bill Samuels Sr., this bourbon was developed to offer a whiskey that is never bitter or sharp. Instead of the traditional rye, Maker's Mark uses soft red winter wheat in its mash bill, resulting in a distinct, full-flavored bourbon profile. Each barrel is rotated by hand to ensure consistency, and the bourbon is aged to taste rather than for a fixed number of years. Every bottle is hand-dipped in the brand's signature red wax at the Loretto distillery.The use of soft red winter wheat shapes the flavor profile, giving Maker's Mark Bourbon a rounded sweetness balanced by oak influence. The sweet oak, vanilla, bright fruit, and gentle wheat character create a smooth, creamy, pleasant, soft spice with a clean conclusion.
